Based in Berlin, Bosworth Music is a 126-year old company that has been part of Wise Music Group since 1998. Over the past decade, in line with Wise Music’s broad approach, Bosworth has reinforced its long music publishing history with a substantial catalogue of rights spanning pop and classical as well as film scores. Bosworth also signs distinctive composers – two such being Hauschka and Bowen Liu – and enters into creative collaborations with other publishers for individual ventures.

One of the legendary names in popular music, the Campbell Connelly publishing imprint was started by Jimmy Campbell and Reg Connelly in 1925 to publish a song they had written that no other publisher wanted. Campbell Connelly & Company at once proved a great success and today, under Wise Music Group ownership, has grown into a vast catalogue of popular music spanning almost a century and including many evergreen popular songs including ‘Try A Little Tenderness’, ‘Goodnight Sweetheart’, ‘Show Me The Way To Go Home’, ‘We’ll Meet Again’ and ‘No Milk Today’.
As part of Wise Music Group’s growing expansion into the UK education market, the software house Charanga Limited plays a key role in building a dedicated online music education environment for learning in the UK. Charanga brings contemporary digital resources to music teachers and schools for a new, flexible learning and teaching experience.

Founded in the 1860s in Sussex, England, Chester Music at first imported and distributed classical editions from Europe. Under new ownership it published Stravinsky, Poulenc and Falla. Eventually it became part of Wise Music Group where it added many prestigious British and European composers to its roster, among them Lutoslawski, Gorecki, Tavener, Nyman, Glass, Saaraho, Salonen, Muhly, Weir and Talbot.

Novello & Company was established in London in 1811 by Vincent Novello to publish editions of his own church music. His son subsequently used it to establish a dominant presence in low-cost mass sales of choral music. Educational publishing became an important part of the Novello catalogue which grew through further acquisitions. Novello joined Wise Music Group in 1993 and today remains a major choral publisher and champion of new music. Novello composers include Elgar, Holst, Richard Rodney Bennett and Tarik O’Regan.

Conceived in mid-19th century New York as ‘G. Schirmer Music Publishers, Importers and Dealers’, this prestigious publishing house had won international renown by the start of the 20th century. After acquiring Associated Music Publishers (AMP), it was bought first by Macmillan Inc. and finally by Wise Music Group in 1986. With the Hal Leonard Corporation acting as sole print distributor, Schirmer/AMP is the leading publisher of American classical music and its global profile has risen to new heights via the work of composers ranging from Charles Ives, Samuel Barber and Gian Carlo Menotti to Tan Dun, John Corigliano, Missy Mazzoli and, most recently, Matthew Aucoin.

Terry and Mandy Oates founded Eaton Music in 1975. Their first signings were Harry Nilsson, Jimmy Webb, Ringo Starr and Status Quo. Having previously run Henry Mancini’s company Compass Music, they soon established a reputation for attracting film composers to Eaton. Today, under the aegis of Wise Music Group, Eaton Music continues to flourish, maintaining publishing relationships with a roster of composers that includes George Fenton, Anne Nikitin, Oliver Davis and Andy Price.
One of France’s oldest and most prestigious music publishing houses, Leduc was founded in 1841. Today its catalogue includes the works of Jacques Ibert, Gabriel Fauré, Darius Milhaud, André Jolivet, Francis Poulenc, Olivier Messiaen and Henri Dutilleux among many others. Leduc has become the focal point for a whole tradition of French music through a combination of publishing new works and the acquisition of established catalogues, notably those of Éditions Heugel in 1980 and Éditions Hamelle in 1993.

BBR was established in 1967 by Jean Kluger and his wife Huguette. In partnership with Daniel Vangarde Jean co-wrote the Club Med favourites: 'Hands Up', 'D.I.S.C.O.', 'Cuba' and 'Aieaoa'. He also wrote hits for artists such as Petula Clark, Sheila, Rika Zaraï, Claude François, Dalida, Sacha Distel and Ringo. BBR owns rights to jazz albums and recordings by famous arrangers such as André Popp, Jean Bouchéty and Gustavo Beytelmann. Another gem in the BBR catalogue is the cult 1971 album 'Le Monde Fabuleux Des Yamasuki', frequently used in movies and TV series.
Éditions Musicales Transatlantiques (EMT) was founded in 1947 by the composer Marc Lanjean as a publisher of film music and French popular song. Composer Patrick Marcland took over in the early 1970s expanding the catalogue, particularly by adding modern classical composers such as Jean Françaix, Tristan Murail, Claude Ballif and Luc Ferrari, as well as himself. Marcland also introduced educational music titles. In 2009, EMT was bought by Première Music Group, consequently becoming part of Wise Music Group.

Edition Wilhelm Hansen (EWH) was established in Copenhagen in 1857 as an engraving business that soon diversified into music publishing. Today it is still managed in Denmark by the latest generation of the Wilhelm Hansen family. EWH is the premier publisher of many renowned Scandinavian composers, including Nielsen and Sibelius. It also publishes contemporary composers such as Abrahamsen, Nørgård, Sørensen and Ruders, and a substantial collection of choral work. In parallel EWH has expanded its non-classical and media list, signing songwriters such as Sebastian and Lars H.U.G., and film composers like Jacob Groth.

The Embassy catalogue represents contemporary music from the 20th and 21st centuries. Among its well-known writers and performers are Leo Robin, Jule Styne, Leon Russell, Minnie Riperton, and Debbie Gibson. The company also publishes many hits and standards, including ‘Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend’, ‘We Belong Together,’ “The Twist’, ‘Tuxedo Junction’, ‘End Of The World’ and ‘Tainted Love’. Embassy Music Corporation operates out of New York and Santa Monica.
Madrid-based Unión Musical was founded in 1900 and has been part of Wise Music Group since 1990. Its catalogue includes a wealth of Spanish music with works by Rodrigo, Falla, Turina, Albeniz, Montsalvatge, Granados and Mompou. It also publishes the works of contemporary Spanish composers such as Joan Albert Amargós, Benet Casablancas, Albert Guinovart, José Luís Greco, Ramón Paus and Alberto Iglesias, one of the greatest modern composers of film music.

Curwen’s origins were as an East London printing business founded in 1863. Early in the next century the company also became a music publisher with a distinguished catalogue that included Holst’s ‘The Planets’ and ‘St Paul’s Suite’, and Vaughan Williams’ ‘Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis’. J Curwen & Sons was acquired by G Schirmer Ltd in 1969 and has been part of Wise Music Group since 1986.
Founded in 1938, the record label and music publisher Le Chant du Monde has played a prominent part in French musical life for the past eighty years. In France, Le Chant du Monde holds the publishing rights for some of the greatest Russian composers of the 20th century, including Dmitri Shostakovich, Sergei Prokofiev, Aram Khachaturian and Dmitri Kabalevsky. Worldwide rights include other Russian composers like Vissarion Shebalin, Alexandre Mossolov or Nikolaï Myaskovsky. The contemporary catalogue includes works by Nicolas Bacri, Ramon Lazkano and Oscar Strasnoy.

Les Éditions Choudens, part of Wise Music’s Première Music Group, is one of the largest French music catalogues and includes famous names like Berlioz, Bizet, Gounod, Offenbach, Messager, Landowski and Dutilleux. In 1938, the composer Noel Gay started a music publishing company to feature his show songs and light music. That company was later acquired by Wise Music and today remains a uniquely popular catalogue of British songs dating from the late 1930s and 1940s. Among the best known are ‘Leaning On A Lamp-Post’, ‘The Lambeth Walk’, ‘Run, Rabbit, Run’ and ‘Me and My Girl’ but the entire catalogue stands as an evocative repository of popular music from the war years and beyond. More recent copyrights include Howard Goodall’s scores to the TV series ‘Red Dwarf’ and ‘Blackadder’.
Omnibus Press was launched in 1976 as a general non-fiction publisher to complement the sheet music published by its parent Wise Music Group. The imprint now maintains a backlist of over 500 titles and is one of the world’s most respected specialist publishers of music-related books, still publishing around 30 new titles every year.

Node Records is a boutique label that records and releases soundtrack music from ground-breaking films. Notable examples include Stanley Clarke’s score for “Halston”, Jocelyn Pook’s Best Original Composition Award-winning music for “The Wife”, and Beltrami & Roberts’ Emmy-nominated score for “Free Solo”. Based in Los Angeles and New York, Node Records partners with BFD/The Orchard Sony for marketing and distribution purposes.

This distinguished Paris-based music group was started from scratch and today controls the rights to more than 30,000 classical works and pop songs. In addition, it is the umbrella company for a number of major subsidiary publishing companies including Éditions Choudens, Éditions Alphonse Leduc, Éditions Bleu Blanc Rouge and Éditions Transatlantiques. Authors represented include Henri Salvador, Bernard Dimey, Bernard Michel, Maurice Pon, Boris Vian, Serge Gainsbourg, Brigitte Fontaine, Mort Shuman, Marie Boris Bergman, Alain Bashung, Jean Dréjac, Hubert Giraud, Stelios Vlavianos, Alec Costandinos, and Jean-Max Rivière.
Named for the historic red-light district of New Orleans, Storyville Records was set up by Danish jazz and blues enthusiast Karl Emil Knudsen in 1950. Reissues from many legendary American jazz artists – including Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong – appeared on the label. Storyville expanded its celebration of jazz and blues through live recordings of jazzmen touring in Europe and Scandinavia. Acquired by Wise Music Group when Edition Wilhelm Hansen took it over in 2005, today Storyville continues to build its impressive catalogue through authoritative releases of contemporary jazz artists.

The Schirmer Theatrical division produces new symphonic cinema concepts (movies screened with live orchestra accompaniment replacing the original soundtrack score). Examples include The Pink Panther, The Red Violin and Ghostbusters. The division also creates a variety of other symphonic experiences and theatrical concert productions including Women Rock and Revolution. Award-winning producers, arrangers, directors, production designers and engineers work with in-house creative and technical teams to create imaginative, high-end live productions. In this way the Group’s substantial worldwide music rights become a valuable core component to new productions. Among the international rights holders who have entrusted Schirmer Theatrical to create new productions are Sony Pictures, MGM Studios, Lionsgate Entertainment Corp, Netflix and Sony/ATV.

Shawnee Press was established in the 1930s by Fred Waring, businessman, television personality and choral director of the famous Warning’s Pennsylvanians. In its distinguished catalogue are the songs ‘When You’re Smiling’, ‘Bugler’s Dream (Olympic Fanfare)’, ‘Summertime, Summertime’ and ‘Chiquita Banana’. Shawnee Press operates out of Chester, New York, and is administered by Wise Music.
Sparta Florida was formed in the 1960s by the songwriter, lyricist and entrepreneur Hal Shaper. At first the company benefitted from his own songs, for instance, ‘Softly As I Leave You’, made into a hit by Matt Munro. Later, its owner’s eclectic taste prompted Sparta Florida to diversify into reggae, publishing major examples of the genre that included hits like ‘The Tide is High’, ‘Kingston Town’ and ‘Pass the Dutchie’. Later still Shaper signed and sometimes wrote TV scores that also feature in the catalogue, notably those of the popular British series ‘The Sweeney’ and ‘Rumpole of The Bailey’. Sparta Florida was eventually acquired by Wise Music Group in 1994.
Established in Australia in 1972, Wise Music Pty made an early catalogue acquisition that featured classic Australian folk songs, among them Eric Bogle’s outstanding And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda and No Man’s Land. In 1990, it also purchased the copyright to the famous Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gumtree. Wise Music Pty's most notable later major acquisition of the copyright sub-publishing rights in Australia and New Zealand for the songs of Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and other writers from the Chess Records’ Arc catalogue. The company is now active in signing sub-publishing rights and administering local catalogues.

Wise Music Italy is among Italy’s leading independent publishing companies, with over 23,000 copyrights ranging from dance to pop, urban to jazz, electronic to classical music.
